2018 Cabernet Sauvignon, Diamond Mountain District Estate 1.5L
WINEMAKER’S NOTES
Harvested from our estate vineyard this 2018 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon shows classic Napa expression from a classic vintage. Our petite 2-acre vineyard, terraced to a hillside in the Diamond Mountain District, has an extremely unique west-facing exposure and sits atop compressed volcanic ash, known as tuff.
Our estate fruit is always hand-picked and meticulously sorted and destemmed into 2-ton open top fermenters. Primary fermentation lasts nearly a month with active management throughout to ensure proper extraction and tannin development.
Aged in the Teachworth caves for two years, this wine was bottled in July of 2020 following 21 months in French oak barrels, around 60% of which were new. This wine shines as a prime example of mountain Cabernet. Beautifully rich, dark fruits on the nose with tactile, enveloping tannins and a lengthy finish.
